Emily Marshall, MS, LPC, NCC has been helping children and families since 2001. Her experience combines several years in a residential setting, Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation working with Children struggling with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties, and outpatient treatment. She uses behavioral and cognitive behavioral techniques to assist children and families in meeting their goals. She specializes in children with severe emotional and behavioral problems. Her emphasis is in treating Reactive Attachment Disorders. Emily is currently accepting new clients.
Patricia Clark-Hicks, Ph.D., LPC has her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She has gained a significant amount of experience and success in treating adults with substance abuse issues. Patricia is great with teenagers, but generally will not work with children under 12. She has provided individual and family therapies for 8 years with teenagers and their families. Prior to working in the mental health field, Patricia worked for 16 years as an elementary, middle and high school teacher of Special Needs and Emotionally/Behavior Disordered children. She has provided bonding assessments and substance abuse evaluations. Patricia is currently accepting new clients.
Deborah Toler, MS, PLPC provides individual and family therapies to children and adolescents. Using behavioral methods and play modalities she has assisted many children with their depression and anxiety symptoms related to trauma. Deborah currently facilitates a group for adolescent females experiencing low self-esteem. She works primarily with children and families and provides in-home counseling services. Deborah is currently accepting new clients.
Karen Kovalik, MS, PLPC earned her Master's Degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling, and Child Counseling. She has worked as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist, a Domestic Violence Victims Advocate, and as a Child Development Counselor. She is a patient and empathetic listener who has a demonstrated record of helping victims become more empowered, and taking back control of their lives. Karen is currently accepting new clients.
Kate Kruse-Schwendinger just finished her MSW at Missouri State University. She worked several years at Burrell as an adult case manager conducting one of her internships with Burrell and her 2nd with Christian Health Care of Springfield-West where she was later hired as the admissions coordinator. She has had an opportunity to work with many families and adults in both of these settings. She is being supervised for provisional licensure by Kelly Farmer, MSW, LCSW. Kate additionally has worked with the Marion Center conducting process groups and anger management groups. Kate has expressed a willingness to provide in-home therapies. Kate is currently accepting new clients.
Gary Chadwick, MS, PLPC completed his Masters in Community Agency & School Counseling Spring 2010. He is working on his licensure in Missouri. Gary has experience working with children, adolescents & teens both in the classroom and individually to overcome behavior and learning difficulties. He currently provides individual and family therapy services, as well as, therapeutic visitation. Gary is currently accepting new clients.
Cindy Claxton, PA has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the social services field. She is an experienced visit supervisor and has been helping parents meet their parenting goals for the past several years. Cindy has been working with teenagers for the past 3 years in a residential seting, teaching life skills, serving as a role model, preparing clients to become responsible, productive adults in our community. She is a great role model for children of all ages and has her license to foster children. She currently provides parent aide and mentoring services. Cindy is currently FULL.
Genie Cortez, MA, CIT completed her second Master's degree, Spring 2010, from MSU. She has a great deal of experience working with children and families. She has worked at the Regional Girls Shelter, Teen Challenge of the Ozarks, The Kitchen Inc., and many others. She is currently accepting new clients for individual, couples, and family therapies.
